SAPG celebrates 15 years

The Scottish Antimicrobial Prescribing Group (SAPG), Healthcare Improvement Scotland, was established in 2008 and marked its 15th birthday with an event in Glasgow on Friday 24 November 2023. This was the first face to face SAPG event since the COVID pandemic.

The event coincided with World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week, 18-24 November 2023.

Overview of the SAPG@15 event

The opening address was delivered by Robbie Pearson, Chief Executive Officer, Healthcare Improvement Scotland.

There were 15 presentations throughout the day divided into three themes to celebrate past successes, review present priorities and explore future opportunities.

There was good representation across health and social care with 87 attendees from Scotland’s NHS boards, Scottish Government, Scottish universities, British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy and six hospitals in Ghana.

We were delighted to have seven colleagues from Ghana join us on the day. They came to the UK in November as part of the Commonwealth Partnerships for Antimicrobial Stewardship (CwPAMS) project.
